Acura TLX Hits The Big Apple

Attendees to the 2014 New York International Auto Show will be among the first to see the 2015 Acura TLX. This performance-luxury sedan was created for the midsize luxury segment. Acura says that it “will deliver higher levels of luxury refinement and sports-sedan athleticism with exhilarating performance enhanced by next-generation Acura powertrain and dynamic-handling technologies”. What exactly are those? Well, buyers will have a choice of “a 2.4-liter 16-valve, direct-injected i-VTEC® 4-cylinder engine mated to an all-new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission with torque converter or a 3.5-liter 24-valve direct-injected i-VTEC V-6 mated to a new 9-speed automatic transmission”. (HondaNews 1) Those opting for a two-wheel-drive model will benefit from the latest version of Acura's Precision All-Wheel Steer™ (P-AWS™) technology. This system offers toe angle control of both the left and right rear wheels. Buyers of the TLX SH-AWD™ which automatically comes with the 3.5-liter powerplant, will find an all-wheel-drive system which has shed 25 percent of its weight and operates via a new torque-vectoring control logic.

Another facet of the new TLX is noise control. Drivers and passengers will appreciate the enhanced cabin quiet no matter what driving conditions are outside. This was made possible by improvements to the rigidity of the car body, better sealing, enhanced insulation, and the application of electronic Active Noise Control.

However, all this happens next month between April 18 to the 27th. Until then, Acura has many things to occupy its time. For example, there's the “Driven by Passion” tour which will stop at various cities across the country. Acura is taking the 2014 RLX to meet and greet the nation's people.

Here's how it works. Acura has identified well-attended local cultural events which are taking place in city centers. Acura joins the fun. It's a way to support local organizations and philanthropic causes while advertising.

The “Driven by Passion” tour began this past winter but there are still a few more stops. The public is more than welcome. Event-goers can speak with Acura product specialists, get information on Acura products, even test drive the star of the show – the all-new Acura RLX. You can find the tour schedule here.
